Chief Minister Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme (CMUIDS)

Under this scheme, basic amenities will be developed and improved in areas falling within the urban bodies of the state. Particular attention will be paid to the development of infrastructure especially in cities of tourism and religious importance. New schemes related to roads, urban traffic, beautification of cities, development of social infrastructure, gardens, heritage conservation and tourism can be taken under the scheme. Urban bodies to which funds will be given in this scheme will have to implement a time-bound urban improvement program in phases. The financial structure of the scheme will be such that the state government will give 30 percent grant of the cost of the scheme and 70 percent amount will be made available to the bodies in the form of loan. The loan amount and interest will be repaid by the government in the period of 15 to 20 years and the remaining 25 percent amount will be made by the ULB. The implementation of the scheme will start from this financial year. There is a target of starting 1428 crore schemes in this financial year.

  • Project Scope: To date, 1,062 projects worth ₹1,070 crore have been sanctioned under the scheme.
  • Progress Status: As of late 2025, 325 projects are complete, 407 are under construction, and 330 are in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) or tendering stage.
  • Focus Areas: The scheme aims to improve urban life through infrastructure, including, but not limited to, roads, drainage, street lighting, and community halls.
  • Implementation: The scheme is implemented by urban local bodies under departmental guidance, focusing on strengthening infrastructure in urban areas.
